This photo contest entry centers the subject within the frame so there is no doubt what the picture is about. It does a nice job of conveying a sweet innocent girl – perfect for the preschool age group. The contest photographer also does a nice job keeping subject focused while allowing the background to blur showing excellent use of depth of field. Big Kid Photo Contest – $500 winner – This picture was the Big Kid Photo Contest winner for the Cute Kid Contest in April it won $500. This is a beautiful picture of a beautiful little girl. Notice that her picture completely fills the frame. It also utilizes the concept of diagonals, this is a photographic concept that utilizes diagonal lines to create interest. Although not in completely diagonal (from corner to corner) notice how her her flows into the corners at the bottom of the frame. This helps to create interest and insures that the frame is filled completely be the subject.
Pre Teen Photo Contest – $1,000 winner – This picture won $1,000 for the April 2016 Cute Kid pre-teen photo contest. Once again a great example of winning photo contest photography, This picture fills the frame, is focused on the subject, utilizes diagonals – notice her shoulders and hair extending to the corners and has a shallow depth of field. Utilize those features and then add a beautiful child and you have a winning photo for just about any contest. Well done!
Multiples Photo Contest – $500 winner – This picture won $500 for the March 2016 Cute Kid toddler photo contest. It’s just a beautiful picture technically working with twins is hard and this picture does a nice job of capturing the essence of these happy kids. Just getting them both to smile and look at the camera at the same time deserves an award. The photographer could improve this picture by simplifying the picture by reducing the number of colors and and eliminating the distracting background, do that and you have an even better picture Great Job!
