Not only does this picture capture an adorable baby it takes advantage of several photo composition strategies. We’re not sure if the photographer knew anything about these strategies, or if it was just a coincidence, but they do work well for this picture.
- The Use of Diagonals: Utilizing diagonals helps to create interest or movement in the photograph. In this picture, the girls arms create a diagonal by coming from the frame of the photo and center your attention on her adorable face.
- Fill The Frame: This seems like common sense, but it’s important to fill the frame with your subject, this is particularly important when it comes to contest photography.
- Center Dominant Eye: This strategy helps to draw the audience in a can initiate an emotional response that helps the viewer relate to the subject. Although it’s hard to call out a dominant eye in this photo the eye’s have an important role in adding value to this photo.

Unlike the Gerber Baby Contest, you can submit as many pictures as you want! There are no limits, so you if you have several great pictures of your cute kid, you can submit them all.
A New Cute Kid Contest Starts Every Month!
There is a new contest every month – Photos can be submitted from the first day through the last day of the month. The judges review every picture submitted the judging takes about one week and winners of the photo contest are announced around the 15th of the following month.
If you submit more than one picture, you have a better chance of winning!
Each photo that’s entered into the contest is judged on it’s own merit so the more pictures you submit the more chances you have to win!

This baby is very Adorable yes. But I thought it was said in the CuteKid online entry forms that this contest was not judged based so much on “photography skills” …as The Gerber Baby Contest is….but more on just the cuteness of the baby? But the reasons listed below this picture states 3 main facts about why this baby won, and it sounds more like it was judged based mostly on the dianamic of the picture rather than the baby overall. So that doesn’t seem fair to all entries.
We do not do the judging, that is completely managed by The Cute Kid Contest – we only comment on some of the reasons the photos may have been selected. You should review some of the past winners to get ideas for your photos. Good Luck
