Baby Magazine Photo Contests can be a great opportunity for your child. Unlike the Gerber Baby Contest that only runs once a year, many baby magazine photo contests run throughout the year. We are going to provide you with a list of some of our favorite baby photo contests later in this article.
Most Baby Magazine Photo Contests are Free to enter.
The prizes normally aren’t as large as the CuteKid Contests grand prize which is worth $25,000. But they can offer some nice prize packages. Usually they offer either small cash prizes worth several hundred dollars, or they offer free products from sponsors. Some Baby Photo Contests offer modeling opportunities in addition to or instead of cash prizes. If you think your baby has what it takes to be a baby model, then you should definitely consider entering a baby magazine photo contest. If your baby wins the contest, and part of the prize is a photo shoot or cover photo, then the exposure could open the door for other baby or kid modeling opportunities.
What does it take to win a baby magazine photo contest?
That depends on the contest and what they’re looking for. Just like the Gerber Baby contest looks for baby’s to represent Gerber, the magazine photo contest is going to want a child that represents the magazine or the product that’s sponsoring the contest. We recommend that you read the rules carefully and understand the intent of the contest. In most cases the contest will specifically tell you what they’re looking for and how the contest will be judged. So rule number one for any baby photo contest is READ the RULES!
Once you understand the rules, you just need to take photos that meet their criteria. There are several things that you can do to improve your chances of winning.
- Take pictures with a high quality camera. Having a good camera is not required to enter any contest, but it can provide you with a huge advantage over a poor quality image.
- Understand the baby photo contest sponsor. Who are they, what’s their business, and what image do they want to promote. If you enter your baby in a photo contest sponsored by Purina, you may want to include your dog. If the contest is sponsored by Scotts – then take the picture on the front yard or in a park with lush green grass. If it’s sponsored by huggies put them in diapers.
- Learn to focus on your babies face try to capture an emotion, happy, exciting, inquisitive etc. Again think about the contest sponsor what type of image is going to make them look best. If you’re entering a contest sponsored by Gerber Baby food, don’t enter a picture showing a Huggies Diaper!
- Make it fun! – Believe it not you can tell when a baby or young child is being natural and just having fun, stay away from poses, props and most importantly distracting backgrounds. Focus on the baby and the sponsor!
- Enter as many times as the contest allows, and mix up your pictures, emotions colors etc. Many contests limit the number of entries, but contests like the Cute Kid allow you to enter as many photos as you want. Who knows, the next picture you enter could be the next big winner.
